The Textile Engineering Department was founded in 1960 and the first graduation was in 1964.

The establishment of this department had a vital influence on renovating the Textile industries in Egypt.
This renovation has been achieved through the specialized engineers holding B.Sc. M. Sc. And Ph.D. degrees.
The department staff had been professionally educated till the master degree in Alexandria University and then pursued their Ph.D. studies in several & different international Universities.
These varieties of international schools lead developing and renovating new disciplines towards better educated students to serve in the Textile field.
The Department mission is to graduate students to work in the textile mills all over the public and private sectors of Egypt. Most of the department graduated engineers occupy a leadership in Textile industries & some of them work abroad.
The Department objectives include
Graduating well-educated engineers who are capable to compete with the international market with the international economically daily changes.
Improving the knowledge of the graduate engineering through post graduates studies.
Applying the scientific research & studies in the industry & production field.
Coping with the new scientific & industrial development in the textile engineering & its application in the different engineering & medical fields.
