Production Engineering started as a section in the Mechanical Engineering Department in 1957 and spun as an independent department in 1963 to become the first in Egyptian Universities.
Departmental Mission: “Provide quality education, research, and community services that cover a broad spectrum of production engineering areas required for evaluation, design, operation, and maintenance of integrated governmental, industrial, and service systems”.
Department Objectives: Preparing best in class production engineers equipped with the basic and engineering knowledge in addition to intellectual, professional, communication, management, and planning skills. Doing scientific research, and developing engineering education systems and continuous education necessary for community service
Areas of study: The undergraduate curriculum is structured to cover the following fields of study: Industrial engineering, production planning and control, ergonomics, engineering economy, machine tool testing and product design and inspection, robotics, flexible manufacturing and automation, measurements and quality control, engineering materials and material science, failure analysis and fault diagnosis, machine dynamics, material forming and removal processes, casting and welding.
