Welcome to the Mechanical Engineering Department
The Mechanical Engineering Department
has always focused on two important objectives:
The first is that graduating students shall have a clear understanding of fundamentals.
The second objective is to prepare the students for practical engineering life upon graduation. In the mean time, the contents of the curriculum have been developed and updated over the years in order to enable graduates to:
1. Apply their knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering.
2. Have an acceptable level of analytical ability.
3. Design a system, component or process.
4. Have effective communication skills.
5. Be capable of functioning on a team.
6. Believe in the importance of life-long professional development.
7. Understand the environmental and social impacts of engineering solutions in a global context.
Although the industry does not have an official input into the design of the curriculum, everyday feed back from both graduates and employers is greatly appreciated and taken into full consideration when any course development is sought. There is a wide range of prospects available to the graduates of the Department of Mechanical Power Engineering since the department is in liaison with both industry and governmental agencies. Many of the department graduates are paid satisfactory salaries in oil companies, railways, automotive companies, airports, chemical industries, steel making and other industries, power stations, Suez Canal Authority, hotels and resorts, etc………
