The Irrigation Engineering and Hydraulics department aims at graduating civil engineers having full knowledge about scientific syllabuses concerning the natural water resources such as rains, floods, rivers and groundwater, studying its hydraulic properties, calculation of its quantities and design of irrigation and draining networks for serving new fields including hands reclamation, and designing water structures to control the water to be used in distribution of irrigation water and protection from the dangers of floods.
In this respect, the department cooperates with the ministry of water resources and irrigation for choosing graduation projects, for the final year students in the civil engineering department, which are served by the ministry, so that the students are aware of the current huge water project.
The scientific sections of the department are divided into three sections:
Hydraulics
Irrigation and drainage engineering
Design of irrigation structures
These three sections coordinate to serve the scientific syllabuses which are taught by the department.
